Aqraseth

Heron-crocodile dinosaur. A beast.

Imagine a big crane-like bird with a crocodilian head. The aqraseth is a diurnal ambush predator.

It can hold its breath 15 minutes. Also, an immobile aqraseth is very hard to spot from underwater

Bite Grip. The aqraseth makes a melee attack (1D6) and grapples its target on a hit.

A large version of the aqraseth.

It can hold its breath 30 minutes. Also, an immobile aqraseth is very hard to spot from underwater

Bite Grip. The aqraseth makes a melee attack (1D8) and grapples its target on a hit.




Random Encounter
  1. Monster: 2D6 aqraseths or 1D4 giant aqraseths.
  2. Lair: Very high mounds of dirt in shallow waters. 25% chance that there are eggs, 25% chance that there are hatchlings.

    Omen: Hissing sounds… from above?
  3. Spoor: The floating body of a devoured catfish.
  4. Tracks: Big duck-like tracks in the mud.
  5. Trace: Many hissing noises far away in the sky.
  6. Trace: Spitball of feathers and fish bones.
Salvaging the body

Aqraseth meat is actually delicious, their bones make very good flutes, and their feathers are used in ceremonial garments.
